Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at sales@hplm.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We use a range of paints to ensure surface compatibility. Our  primary preference is for Chlorinated Rubber paint, however we also  regularly use 2-part epoxy, Waterborne paint and thermoplastics.

For  new asphalt surfaces, surface preparation is not required. However, we  highly recommend allowing the asphalt to cure for 30 days prior to  painting.

For older asphalt and concrete surfaces, and also for remarking over  existing lines, we generally recommend preparation by high-pressure  water-blasting. This removes any embedded dirt, loose material and also  removes any existing flakey paint that will otherwise cause the new  markings to fail prematurely.

Other  methods of surface treatment include: shot-blasting, grinding,  scarifying and the application of adhesion promoting penetrative  sealers.

Surface preparation is generally advised on a case by case basis as environments vary considerably.
